For more than 30 years, millions of Americans from all walks of life have visited the expansive marsh, dunes, and beaches that make up Cape Lookout National Seashore. Over 700,000 visitors come to the Park each year to look up in awe at the towering lighthouse; to explore the 250 years of history at Portsmouth Village; to fish in one of the East Coast’s premier fishing spots; to watch the wild horses on Shackleford Banks; to explore the culture and traditions of hunting, whaling, boat building and fishing; and to discover an area internationally known for its bird populations.
